GLF New York 2019: The Decade on Ecosystem Restoration

Help define the most important Decade of the century.

GLF NYC 2019 will take place on 28 September 2019 at the United Nations Headquarters. More than 500 people are expected to attend the on-site event and tens of thousands more will participate live online in the GLF Digital Edition.

 

Main objectives 

  • Consult with countries and key stakeholders on the content and focus of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021 – 2030;
  • Raise awareness of the opportunities linked to large-scale ecosystem restoration in the landscapes and seascapes;
  • Forge and announce new, non-traditional partnerships ahead of the implementation of the UN Decade;
  • Coordinate and increase international, national, and private support for ecosystem restoration;
  • Explore in-depth key global ecosystem restoration needs: forests/agriculture, wetlands/peatlands mountains, drylands/rangelands, oceans/coasts;
  • Strengthen, expand and connect existing restoration initiatives on land and in water from local to global level to accelerate implementation at unprecedented scale.
