The Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries in the Nordic context

08/10/2015 - 08/10/2015

Side event at the 20th Anniversary of the CCRF, Vigo, Spain Thursday, 8th October 2015, 12:00-13:30.

The Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries is an important milestone in the effort to manage our living marine resources sustainably. The Nordic countries have been supporters of FAOs work with the CCRF from the beginning.

The Nordic countries have furthermore been early adaptors in innovation in sustainable fisheries management regimes and have been innovators in methods and technology that allows the fishing industry to focus on value instead of volume in capture fisheries.

The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Fisheries and Aquaculture Cooperation has a long history of supporting policy relevant activities intended to encourage the Nordic countries to work together in developing sustainable Nordic solutions for their fisheries and aquaculture and in sharing experiences and next practices, all on the basis of scientific research and innovation.

The Nordic Council of Ministers is convening a side event at the 20th Anniversary of the CCRF at CONXEMAR in Vigo, Spain. The side event is intended to profile new Nordic solutions in fisheries management and the ever increasing focus on optimizing value throughout the value chain. The event is also intended to provide a platform for a open dialogue between practitioners.
