European Price Report - October 2017

Year published: 2017

Monthly prices for about 600 fish products and an overview of the major trends on the European market, reported by an extensive correspondent network.

October 2017.

Abstract: The world market for fishery products is currently experiencing upward price trends across a range of commodity groups as demand outstrips supply. In the Eurozone, the stronger euro is having only a marginal effect in terms of keeping price levels at a more accessible level, while strong demand from Asia is diverting supplies away from the European market. The only exceptions to the rising price trend are seabass, seabream and salmon, for which prices have fallen recently. Traders in Europe are making purchases for the Christmas season, which will provide an additional boost to demand.
