Workshop addressing the participatory land policy formulation in Honduras

On 16 September, representatives from the Government of Honduras and FAO, met to analyse the land governance situation and develop strategies for the formulation of a National Land Policy. The Policy will seek to incorporated recommendations from the Land Governance Assessment Framework (LGAF), lessons learned of the Honduras Land Administration Project and the Principles of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fishieries and Forests

During the meeting, participants identified the land sector's main opportunities and threats with respect to good governance of land tenure and natural resources, and discussed current efforts on institutional strenthening and civil society participation. They also developed short and medium proposals of a concept note on the support neededb to for the participatory formulation of this National Policy on Land.
