Incentives for Ecosystem Services

First Sustainable Rice Conference and Exhibition

04/10/2017

The Incentives for Ecosystem Services (IES) project presented the IES approach and moderated a day-long session on the use of incentives in the sustainable cultivation of rice during the First Sustainable Rice Conference and Exhibition, Bangkok, Thailand 4-5 November 2017. The session aimed to understand the role of incentives in the rice supply chain and how a combination of incentives can provide a package of measures to support farmers in the transition to more sustainable practices.

Outcomes from presentations and discussions during the incentives session will support the development of IES case studies with in-country partners to be presented during the forthcoming IES Asia Regional Policy Dialogue. It also supports IES's work co-leading the 10YFP core initiative: Sustainable Food Systems: What's in it for farmers? in collaboration with UNEP and Biovision.
