INPhO, the Information Network on Post-harvest Operations, was originally designed by FAO with the support and collaboration of GIZ and CIRAD in 1996. The site is currently undergoing a review and reformat to enhance the presentation and accessibility of the information available. This information resource is managed by the FAO Nutrition and Food Systems Division.
The principal objectives of INPhO are to promote good practice in post-harvest activities for agricultural products and to assist in the expansion of agribusiness by providing easy access to technical data and information.
Sorghum is the fifth most important cereal grown with a world production of over 55 million tonnes in 2008 (FAOSTAT). Most varieties are heat and drought tolerant, hence it is an important crop in arid areas. It is an important source of food in Africa, Central America, and South Asia and is also used to produce alcoholic beverages and biofuel.

The information provided in this section is intended to be used as an efficient tool to assist in skill enhancement and development in post-harvest activities and small agro-industries development.
The provision of effective training is a key aspect in promoting best practice in post-harvest operations to minimise losses and reduce waste in the development of agroindustries and/or agro-businesses.
