The Division of Human Resources (DHR)/Global Learning and Development Centre (GLDC) and the Global Protection Cluster (GPC) are pleased to announce the launch of a new e-learning programme on Protection in Humanitarian Action. 

 
The Protection in Humanitarian Action e-learning is a stand-alone 3 hours’ course on how to operationalize the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Policy on Protection in Humanitarian Action 
  
The e-learning targets both protection and non-protection actors, with the objective of providing a better understanding of their role in placing protection at the centre of humanitarian action since the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) adopted its Policy on Protection in Humanitarian Action in 2016. It aims to explain the notion of protection and show how protection and non-protection actors involved in humanitarian response can operationalize protection and ensure it is placed at the centre of their action. 
  
Upon completing the Protection in Humanitarian Action e-learning programme, learners will be able to: 

• Explain what the Centrality of Protection is, its relevance for non-protection actors, and what are the roles and responsibilities of the actors involved in the broader humanitarian response; 
• Illustrate the concept of centrality of protection for various sectors of the humanitarian response; 
• Place protection at the centre of humanitarian action by engaging in protection mainstreaming, integrated programming, or stand-alone protection activities.
