A joint FAO/WFP Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) was requested by the Government of Madagascar due to concerns related to the impact of an extended dry period in southern regions and localized flooding in central regions.

The Mission visited the country from 30 July to 11 August 2018 to evaluate factors affecting agricultural production, estimate the national cereal output and assess the overall food and nutrition security situation.

The Mission benefited from technical and logistical support from the Agriculture Statistic Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
