31 Jul 2018
The FAO and OECD joint forces on 13th July in Rome to offer a seminar on Agricultural Outlook and Policy Monitoring and Evaluation. The event was organized under the auspices of the Committee on Commodity Problems (CCP).

The main objectives of the event were to present the findings of the new OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2018-2027 report on global developments in agricultural policies, and discuss the importance of policy monitoring and evaluation for decision-making.

Thanks to its long-standing involvement in these important topics, MAFAP was invited to share its experience in policy monitoring and present the tools that the team developed to track price incentives and public expenditure in support of agriculture.

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of Mr. Amadou Abdoul Sy, Director General of the Agence de Régulation des Marchés in Senegal. Mr. Sy emphasized the significance of policy monitoring and evaluation activities for decision-making in his country. He also shared insights about the years of successful collaboration between MAFAP and the Senegalese Government and highlighted MAFAP’s important role in establishing country owned and sustainable systems to monitor, analyze, and reform food and agricultural policies.
