Otilia Vanessa Cordero Ahiman - a former MAFAP expert - is Ecuador’s new Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.

Ms Cordero was recently appointed in Quito as the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock. After working at the Universities of Madrid and Chihuahua, Ms Cordero joined the MAFAP team of FAO in Rome as a researcher focusing on analyzing the link between agricultural policy measures, food security and nutrition outcomes.

 

 

Previously, she had obtained a PhD in Agricultural, Food and Natural Resources Economics at Madrid University and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Zaragoza. Ms Cordero holds another Master's Degree in Planning of Rural Development Projects and Agrarian Economy and Natural Resources, from the Polytechnic of Madrid. She graduated in Quevedo State Technical University (Ecuador) in Financial Management Engineering.
