2018: In the framework of the Climate-Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Strategy, the MICCA and UNREDD programs of FAO are supporting Ethiopia in its efforts to improve internal capacity on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector. A five days training based on IPCC 2006 Guidelines at tier 1 and the FAO-MICCA e-learning curriculum on national GHG inventories for AFOLU was given to 25 experts coming from different level of administrations (Federal, Regional and City Administration) and involved in climate change related activities.

The training took place in Addis Ababa in March 2018 and covered all agriculture sources and processes as well the generic methodologies for the FOLU sector, through presentations and hands-on exercises using the IPCC software.

The trained officers are expected in the short term to contribute to all stages of production of the inventories for the next national reports, namely the third National Communication and the first Biannual Update Report of Ethiopia.
