Using the framework of the National Adaptation Plans (NAP) process, this brief provides an overview of the key issues to consider and main entry points for gender mainstreaming in the development of NAPs for the agriculture sectors.

This briefing note illustrates the role and logic of Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) in the evaluation of climate change adaptation policies and projects in the agriculture sectors and describes the main analytical steps for conducting it, providing practical examples. The note describes the standard CBA methodology but highlights the peculiarities related to its implementation in the context of climate change adaptation in the agriculture sectors. 

The EX-ACT Value Chain (EX-ACT VC) is a multi-agent based tool appraising input supply, production, transport, processing and using numerous indicators. Being multi-impact designed, it gives performance on: (i) climate mitigation (GHG emissions, CFP, economic return of climate mitigation); (ii) climate resilience; (iii) socio-economic performances (value added, income and employment generated); (iv) other environment indicators (water use, energy use) of food Value Chains, either for the current situation of the chain, or for an upgrading project scenario. EX-ACT VC covers crops, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture value chains at micro and meso level (by agent, by stage and for the whole value chain). It will be useful when formulation a NAP, to assess, review adaptation actions implemented or planned.

This paper outlines the importance of tracking adaptation in the context of the implementation of the Paris Agreement and provides a flexible and consistent indicator framework for tracking adaptation in agricultural sectors (includes agriculture, forestry and fisheries and aquaculture) at national level.
