This briefing note illustrates the role and logic of Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) in the evaluation of climate change adaptation policies and projects in the agriculture sectors and describes the main analytical steps for conducting it, providing practical examples. The note describes the standard CBA methodology but highlights the peculiarities related to its implementation in the context of climate change adaptation in the agriculture sectors.

The EX-ACT Value Chain (EX-ACT VC) is a multi-agent based tool appraising input supply, production, transport, processing and using numerous indicators. Being multi-impact designed, it gives performance on: (i) climate mitigation (GHG emissions, CFP, economic return of climate mitigation); (ii) climate resilience; (iii) socio-economic performances (value added, income and employment generated); (iv) other environment indicators (water use, energy use) of food Value Chains, either for the current situation of the chain, or for an upgrading project scenario. EX-ACT VC covers crops, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture value chains at micro and meso level (by agent, by stage and for the whole value chain). It will be useful when formulation a NAP, to assess, review adaptation actions implemented or planned.

This paper outlines the importance of tracking adaptation in the context of the implementation of the Paris Agreement and provides a flexible and consistent indicator framework for tracking adaptation in agricultural sectors (includes agriculture, forestry and fisheries and aquaculture) at national level. The framework is based on the recognition that adaptation should be tracked by analyzing a number of different indicators across agricultural sub-sectors. It is useful when developing the monitoring and evaluation framework of a NAP.

This document outlines how six NAP-Ag partner countries are measuring their climate finance activities. It discusses how countries are measuring the cost of climate change finance, and their reporting framework at a national level and under the UNFCCC. It also outlines how countries are developing measuring, reporting and verification processes for finance adaptation activities in the countries' National Adaptation Plan. The document discusses common challenges at national and international levels with recommendations from the country case studies.

This learning product provided by the Climate Information for Resilient Development in Africa (CIRDA). It outlines the need for climate information for building reliance to short term hazards and long term issues like climate change. It discusses the benefits for livelihoods especially in landscape based livelihoods that is vulnerable to climate and weather extremes. The document provides case studies of countries systems, highlighting the opportunities for public and private actors. It outlines how to effectively set up weather monitoring and forecasting systems.
