Climate Change Secretariat, Sri Lanka Ministry of Environment: National Adaptation Plan for Climate Change Impacts in Sri Lanka (2016-2025)
The National Adaptation Plan (NAP) formulated by Sri Lanka provides an overview of climate change impacts in the country, adaptation needs and options (for the identified key vulnerable sectors and cross-cutting) and highlights the key stakeholders involved. It draws out a plan, the implementation strategy, the resource mobilization mechanism, clarifies its contribution towards achieving the SDG and presents the institutional and coordination mechanisms. It is a good source of inspiration for users who wish to develop their NAP.

Burkina Faso Ministry of Environment and Fishery Resources : Burkina Faso National Climate Change Adaptation Plan
Burkina Faso's National Adaptation Plan (NAP) highlights the country's adaptation objectives and actions. It comprises (i) adaptation plans for each development sector and (ii) a global adaptation plan for the entire country. It features all the steps of the adaptation planning process (preparatory phase and assessments, implentation and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. This document submitted as part of Brazil's NAP, outlines 11 strategies for adaptation for sectors and themes considered priorities for national development and potentially vulnerable to climate change, namely: Agriculture,Biodiversity and Ecosystems, Cities, Disaster Risk Management, Industry and Mining, Infrastructure (Electric Power, Transport and Urban Mobility), Vulnerable Communities, Water Resources, Health, Food and Nutritional Security, and Coastal Zones. Each strategy discusses the main vulnerabilities, knowledge gaps, and management ofeach sector and topic, from a climate-change perspective and presents current guidelines for implementation of adaptation measures targeted at increasing climate resilience. This document is useful as a guidance for policy makers who plan to develop a NAP.

This country case study produced by the NAP-Ag programme provides the case study of Uganda. It provides a breakdown of the processes and actions that have been implemented by the Uganda government to effectively mainstream gender responsive adaptation planning for the agriculture sectors. It outlines Uganda's experiences developing a gender-responsive and related capacity development for gender-responsive planning, budgeting and policy formulation. It is useful for policy makers interested in effectively integrating gender into their NAP.

This report examines the synergies between the NAP process and the NBSAP process that are currently being implemented in many countries. The report goes through the NAP process outlining at each phase how the NBSAP also acts in this area to avoid duplication but also to enhance both processes. This report is beneficial for countries implementing both the NBSAP and NAP process, it is beneficial for policy makers seeking to avoid replication and to include biodiversity and ecosystem driven adaptation into their NAP.

This study reviews watershed projects local, national and regional of 12 watershed management projects that was technically supported by FAO over the past decade. It provides case studies from inception to monitoring and evaluation to help identify practises needed. The publication is useful for policy makers ensuring that watershed management systems are effectively integrated with agriculture and other landscape activities. It is useful for policy makers in directing the adaptation of their watersheds and to properly integrate them in national policy strategies.

This guidance note aims to assist countries with the development of strategies for securing funding for the National Adaptation Plan process (from its initiation to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of prioritized adaptation actions). It specifically: 1) provides a clear understanding of the NAP process from a financing perspective, 2) presents the range of potential and most appropriate sources of finance, 3) suggests practical steps that countries might take throughout the NAP process to increase their likelihood of securing finance from different sources.
