Improved Pesticides and Chemicals Management in the Former Soviet Union

The project covers twelve countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, The Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan).

The project is currently operational in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, The Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and implementing activities on regional basis.

Following the funding agreement signed between the EC and FAO on 22 December 2011, the project became operationally active in early February of 2012, seeking to cover twelve countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, The Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Currently, the project is operational in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine following the signing of FAO Government Cooperative Programme (GCP) project agreements with respective national authorities.

Of the remaining countries, if the scope of the project is not a focus in their wider cooperation with FAO at this time, however there may be options for closer cooperation in the future in the areas of training and capacity building.
