More effective and sustainable investments in water for poverty reduction

Mapping

The results of the needs assessment leads to mapping livelihood zones, agricultural water management investment potential and suitability domains of specific agricultural water management solutions. This mapping follows a specific methodology  including participatory workshops gathering national stakeholders.

Livelihood mapping divides the country into areas where rural people share relatively homogeneous living conditions that are based on a combination of biophysical and socioeconomic determinants.

Mapping the agricultural water management investment potential aims at identifying where agricultural water management can be the entry point for improving livelihoods and where to prioritize the investments to have the maximum impact on rural livelihood.

Mapping the suitability domains of specific agricultural water management solutions assesses the potential for applications at national level of the agricultural water management solutions, classifying them from high to low suitability.
