India Office observes the AMR Week

13/11/2017

The antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is increasingly being recognized as a global problem with serious zoonotic implications. Success in containing AMR warrants multi sectoral actions using One Health approach. It also demands active cooperation from the communities to ensure rational use of antimicrobials. This makes awareness of people leading to desired behavioural change in them about appropriate use of antimicrobial agents an important strategy of any programme against AMR.

Though augmenting awareness is a contentious process, focused campaigns throughout the world are undertaken every year for a week during the month of November by the national governments and international development agencies including FAO.

This year AMR awareness week will be celebrated from 13 to 19 November 2017. FAO in all countries, has planned many awareness generation activities during this period.
