Training of indigenous women leaders to become advocators for human rights, food security and nutrition

The FAO Representative in India, Tomio Shichiri, presented a session on food and Nutrition security at the Asia regional Training or Trainers on Human Rights, Food and Nutrition Security on 17th October 2018, at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

 The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, since 2015, joined efforts with the International Forum for Indigenous (IIWF/FIMI) in order to promote the training of indigenous women leaders to become advocators for human rights, food security and nutrition. This year, FAO and FIMI is implementing the program Training of Trainers on Human Rights, Food Security and Nutrition at a regional level in Africa, Asia, South America and Mesoamerica.

The Asia regional Training or Trainers on Human Rights, Food and Nutrition Security is being held from 16th October- 25th October 2018, at the SEWA Training Centre, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. There are 29 participants from 21 indigenous communities and 9 countries from the region.
