Nothing about indigenous women, without indigenous women

The initiative of the violet chair is a call to the authorities, organizations, international community, academia and civil society to guarantee and make visible the full and effective participation of indigenous women in decision-making processes that affect them and their communities.

How to do it?

1. Organize meetings, forums and dialogue spaces where indigenous women from indigenous communities, to present their vision and proposals to respond to the challenges of food and nutrition security and the sustainable development.

2. Use a violet chair, which can be made with indigenous textiles, symbols or handicrafts in violet tones, in presidiums, round tables, panel discussions, and any other dialogue space, where there is an indigenous woman participating and raising her voice on behalf of indigenous women.

3. Call artisans from indigenous communities to create a violet chair with elements of their own culture (textiles, symbols, handicrafts) to call on authorities, organizations, the international community, academia and civil society to guarantee full participation of indigenous women in the decision-making processes that directly affect them and their communities.
