Do you know about an interesting sustainable soil management practice that improves soil health?  FAO, in the ambit of the International Year of Soils, is calling for your contribution to the farmers’ soil practices video contest. The central theme of the contest is: Farmers’ sustainable soil management practices for boosting healthy soils. The deadline for submissions is 12 October 2015.

Representatives from different indigenous peoples (Aymara, Embera–Wounaan, Guaraní, Kichwa, K’iche, Macushi, Miskita, Náhuatl, Zapoteco) from Latin America shared during two days their knowledge about food security with FAO statisticians to develop new methods that could measure food insecurity in indigenous communities. 2015 was declared by the UN General Assembly as the “International Year of Soils” with FAO nominated as the technical secretariat.
