Santiago de Chile - En el marco del Día Internacional de la Mujer Indígena y la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura, FAO se reúne con treinta lideresas indígenas de Sudamérica para impulsar la Campaña Global para el Empoderamiento de las Mujeres Indígenas para elHambre Cero, tomando su lugar en “la silla violeta”.

The call is now open until September 5th! Participate! Under the framework of the Global Campaign for the Empowerment of Indigenous Women for Zero Hunger, FAO and Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) launch the “Indigenous women and food security in Asia” Photo contest. We invite all indigenous women from Asia to participate in this initiative that seeks to highlight the different ways in which indigenous women contribute to food security and the economic and social development of their communities. There are 185 million indigenous women worldwide. They are fisherwomen, pastoralists, hunter-gatherers and defenders of their lands and natural resources. Despite their economic and social contribution, indigenous women are often excluded from decision-making processes. Their work is often undervalued and unpaid, and their rights are not always respected.
