Improving livelihoods of indigenous women in Nicaragua
The Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) partnership, hosted by FAO, has supported Mayangna women to sell local products and improve their livelihoods. Capacity building workshops have taught the women how to improve product quality and equipped them with market knowledge, while also helping to preserve their culture.
Using indigenous knowledge to reverse land degradation in Angola
Thanks to financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), participation of indigenous communities and their ancestral knowledge, FAO has helped strengthen the capacity of agro-pastoralists in south western Angola to reduce the impact of land degradation and to increase the rehabilitation of degraded lands.

With support from the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO), FAO has worked with 6 200 men and women in the region to help reduce food insecurity, restore their livelihoods and strengthen their resilience to future shocks and stresses.
