Deputy Director, Investment Centre - Guy Evers has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of agricultural and rural development, especially: agriculture and horticulture; sustainable land management; agricultural services; and sector-wide approaches; as well as aid and development effectiveness. He has been with FAO’s Investment Centre for over 20 years, including two years as Senior Adviser for agriculture and six years as Chief of the Africa Service (TCIA). In his work for FAO, he led missions for the identification, preparation and implementation support of agriculture and rural development programmes and projects in Africa and Asia. These efforts to assist FAO members have been in cooperation with the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, IFAD, UN Capital Development Fund and several regional and sub-regional research and development organizations in Africa. Before joining TCI, he served as a senior lecturer in the Crop Science Department of Tanzania’s Sokoine University of Agriculture. Mr Evers earned his “Ingénieur agronome” and post-graduate degree in Development Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, and also studied with the International Centre for Development Oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA) in the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
