Deputy Director, Investment Centre - Guy Evers has more than 30 years of experience in agriculture and rural development, especially: agriculture and horticulture; sustainable land management; agricultural services; sector-wide approaches; and aid and development effectiveness. He has been with FAO’s Investment Centre since 1992, including two years as senior adviser, agriculture, and six years as chief of the Africa Service. During this time, he led tasks for identification, preparation and implementation support of agriculture and rural development operations in Africa and Asia, in cooperation with the World Bank, African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Fund for Agricultural Development, UN Capital Development Fund and regional research and development organizations in Africa. Guy also represents FAO in the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development and in the Steering Committee of the Global Agricultural and Food Security Program. Before joining the Investment Centre, he served for five years as a senior lecturer in the Crop Science Department of Tanzania’s Sokoine University of Agriculture, and four years as agricultural officer at the Ministry of Agriculture of Gabon. Guy Evers earned his Ingénieur agronome and postgraduate degree in development economics from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. He also studied with the International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture in the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
