On the eve of the International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, FAO organised a Digital Talk which focused on the impacts of IUU fishing, on the sustainability of fisheries, on our ocean as well as on the livelihoods of fishers and coastal communities, processors, retailers and consumers who often don’t know where the fish and seafood they buy come from and how it is caught.

The talk was hosted by Valérie Dekimpe, from France24 and involved a most interesting and varied panel, made up of:

• a celebrity Chef committed to putting sustainability at the heart of his cuisine - Chef Rodrigo Pacheco
• an FAO fisheries expert with a passion for the ocean - Kristin Von Kistowski 
• a standards expert who advocates for seafood traceability in Asia and the Pacific - Maggie Lee
• an experienced sailor committed to protecting the ocean’s biodiversity - Romain Troublé
