This leaflet provides information for FAO member countries on the port State measures agreement (PSMA). Increased awareness on the benefits of the PSMA will facilitate countries becoming party to this Agreement. It provides a background to IUU fishing in general, what the Port State Measures Agreement entails and the process to becoming party to this Agreement. Additionally, it briefly describes FAO’s capacity building efforts on this topic.
