About KCE

The ultimate mandate of the Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Building Division (KCE) is to enhance and improve user access to FAO information. As the international community becomes increasingly aware of the value of exchanging information on a global and local level to achieve sustainable development and food security, KCE has kept pace with changing technologies to ensure that FAO's wealth of information is delivered effectively. KCE does this by:

  • facilitating enhanced information location through outstanding online library facilities and cutting edge information systems and search tools;

  • supporting the adoption of global standards and norms to index and efficiently locate valuable agricultural information;

  • providing technical support to enhance information management both within and outside the organization;

  • fostering capacity building among member countries and organizations to promote best practices in information management;

  • conducting technical and expert consultations with members on issues related to management and accessibility of agricultural information; and

  • contributing to WAICENT, FAO's strategic framework for the harmonization and dissemination of data.
