I have just finished my studies and would like to work at FAO. What options do young professionals and students have to join the Organization?

FAO offers several opportunities to students, recent graduates and young professionals willing to start a career in the Organization. The main are:

  • FAO Volunteer Programme: it provides opportunities for individuals to contribute their services on a voluntary basis to FAO. No financial assistance is available from FAO.   • FAO Internship Programme: it offers on-the-job training opportunities and exposes students and recent graduates to FAO's work. Interns should not be more than 30 years of age and receive a stipend up to the amount of US$700.   • FAO Associate Professional Officer: Associate Professional Officers(APOs) are young people selected and sponsored by their own governments to work for FAO. Click here for detailed information about How to Apply for an APO position, sponsors contact details and a dedicated list of FAQs.
  • FAO Junior Professional Programme: it provides young professionals under the age of 32 an opportunity to gain valuable, on-the-job experience with FAO. Candidates for the Junior Professional Programme should have experience in one or more of the following fields: economics, animal science, agricultural economics, plant and soil science, rural sociology, fisheries, forestry, land tenure, emergency coordination, human resource management, administration, finance, information technology, or another area related to FAO's work.
