Welcome to the Knowledge Networks community centre

FAO's Thematic knowledge networks and communities are virtual communities of professional staff and collaborating centres with common interests and objectives related to sustainable agriculture and food security built around twelve priority areas.

This online space provides resources you can use to develop and maintain a knowledge network or community. It was created to support FAO's integrating of knowledge sharing networks and communities into the work of the organization.

If you have suggestions, please drop us an e-mail at Knowledge Sharing with your ideas. We will be sure to discuss them with you and make good use of them so that this online space best possibly supports the enabling and cultivation of the FAO networks and communities.

Here you will find guidance, tools and checklists to get you started with your network or community:

Getting started -- This page lists recommendations for how to get started enabling a network or a community at FAO. The recommendations are based on an early 2009 FAO Thematic Knowledge Network Review. Suggestions for something to add? Please let us know by writing at the above email address.

Resources -- This page leads you to a collection of resources and links discussing the design, development and evolution of a knowledge sharing network or community. The topics these resources cover range from planning your network or community, to facilitating it and monitoring it, as well as examples of approaches, methods and tools you can use in these processes.

FAQs -- Here you will find some questions and answers related to starting a knowledge network, helping the network succeed, motivation, support and other practical issues you might find useful.
