The aim of the network is to exchange information on developments in the world banana industry and to discuss social, economic, trade, environmental and other relevant issues in banana production and trade.

The World Information and Early Warning System on Plant Genetic Resources (WIEWS) provides information on national programmes focusing on the conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.
