Seminar "Lessons from COVID-19 for One Water One Health" now available online

The COVID-19 pandemic recalls the vital importance of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 - Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. The intrinsic value of water and its essential role and relevance in all aspects of life are undisputed.  It is a fundamental condition of human survival and dignity, it is the basis for the resilience of societies, vital for human nutrition and health, and essential for ecosystem management, agriculture, energy and overall planetary security. Ensuring sustainable access to safe water and sanitation, achieving sustainable water management, and preventing or reducing pollution, scarcity and flooding events are key global challenges of the 21st century.

Based on the Manhattan and Berlin principles, FAO’s seminar presents an integrated multisectoral approach to integrated water resources management under the One Water One Health concept of water, reflected in the Sustainable Development Goal 6.
