UN General Assembly adopts resolution: “International Decade for Action, ‘Water for Sustainable Development’, 2018-2028’’
Resolution places emphasis on sustainable development and integrated management of water resources
The General Assembly has proclaimed the decade 2018-2028 as the International Decade for Action ‘Water for Sustainable Development’ to begin on World Water Day 22 March 2018 and ending on World Water Day, 22 March 2028. The draft resolution states amongst others that emphasis should be given to sustainable development and integrated management of water resources in order to reach the social, economic and environmental goals. It stresses the importance of implementing such programmes and projects and promoting partnerships as well as the involvement of different stakeholders in order to accomplish the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
