FAO E-learning courses on SDG 6.4.1 and 6.4.2 are now available also in Russian!


In the context of reporting on the SDG indicators 6.4.1 and 6.4.2, FAO has developed in collaboration with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Russian version of both e-learning courses on the "Change in water-use efficiency over time - SDG indicator 6.4.1" and on the "Level of water stress - SDG indicator 6.4.2". These free courses are part of a series of e-learning courses on SDG indicators for which FAO is the custodian agency, which area available through the FAO elearning Academy.

The e-learning course on the "Change in water-use efficiency over time - SDG indicator 6.4.1", already available in English, provides guidance on the rationale and the main characteristics of Indicator 6.4.1, and on how to compute the two dimensions constituting the indicator: the hydrologic and the economic component. It also highlights possible challenges related to data availability, and the impact that monitoring results may have on national decision-making and identification of development policies. The e-learning course on SDG Indicator 6.4.2 "Level of water stress: freshwater withdrawal in percentage of available freshwater resources”, already available in English, French and Spanish, provides tools, methods and processes to support countries in monitoring and reporting on Indicator 6.4.2. It also explores interlinkages with other SDG targets. Enroll for the Russian version here.

These courses are primarily intended for those who play a role in data collection, analysis and reporting on SDG indicators 6.4.1 and 6.4.2. The e-learning courses are a joint product of FAO and the Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG6 (IMI-SDG6), located in the FAO Land and Water Division. IMI-SDG6 is a multi-agency project coordinated by UN-Water which aims at supporting countries in the monitoring, reporting on SDG 6 with the ultimate objective of accelerating the achievement of the Goal.
