Celebration of World Water Day 2019 “Leaving no one behind”

From 22/03/2019 To 22/03/2019
Location: Sheikh Zayed Centre, FAO, Rome, Italy

Whoever you are, wherever you are, water is your human right.

The World Water Day is held annually on the 22nd of March 2019 to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. This year’s World Water Day theme is “Leaving no one behind” as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The WWDR 2019 "Leaving no one behind" reinforces the commitments made by the UN Member States in adopting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and in recognizing the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, both of which are essential for eradicating poverty and for building prosperous, peaceful societies.

The objective of the event

The event aims to celebrate the World Water Day at FAO headquarters and to present the UN World Water Development Report 2019 “Leaving no one behind”, the UN-Water flagship report on water. It will highlight how improvements in water resources management and access to water supply and sanitation services are essential to overcoming poverty and addressing various other social and economic inequities.
