Many projects and programmes are being developed adopting participatory training approaches. The experiences, successes and constraints obtained in training will prove extremely valid for us, as well as for many others involved in the training of farmers water management. Your questions, comments and experiences in the development of training programmes and curriculum, as well as the evaluation of the impact of the adoption of new water management technologies will therefore be most useful to promote an active exchange of experiences. The development of the participatory training and extension programme has proved very much an evolving process. Each country, each pilot site and each farmers field training is a new experience, that requires the adoption of the training material. The initiative, creativity and imagination of technicians, trainers and extensionists in developing the training to the specific conditions of the pilot sites have proved the key to success. The training material included in the CD-ROM and posted on the FAO Water training site will therefore be updated on a continuous basis with new technologies being introduced, new training procedures and experiences included in the training modules.
