Tamilnadu Irrigation Management Training Institute (IMTI) is one among the eleven institutions set up in the country with financial assistance from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under Water Resources Management and Training Project was established in April 1984. The objectives of the institute are: To impart training to the in service personnel serving in the Department of Public Works, Agricultural Engineering and Agriculture; To increase agricultural productivity, rural income, development of the human resources, and their efficiency in managing system with farmers participation; To conduct Action Research in a live irrigation system with farmers participation; To motivate the farmers to form Water Users' Associations (WUA). IMTI is a society governed by Governing Council which constitutes chairman, vice chairman, member secretary, and other members. |
