The School of Applied Sciences (formerly known as the School of Industrial & Manufacturing Science and now embracing the Silsoe Environment activities) is recognised globally for its multi-disciplinary approach to research and teaching. Here at Cranfield we address the key areas of manufacturing, materials, natural resources and sustainable systems.
Our focus is on fundamental research and its application, together with teaching, to meet the needs of industry and society. Sectors addressed include aerospace, agriculture, automotive, energy, engineering, the environment, IT, manufacturing, motorsport, offshore, water and waste. The Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre is central to our expertise, driving our research forward. The Fellowship is a prime example of how we work directly with the manufacturing sector at a strategic-level to provide highly educated operational leaders. It is through this programme that we have been awarded The Queen's Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education 2005. |
