Strong collaboration characterises the relationships
between the International Fund for Agricultural
Development (IFAD) and IPTRID, IFAD being one of the main donors funding the Programme.

Role within IPTRID's activities:
Among others supported activities, the project herein presented had great importance within Programme activity:
Formulation
of a capacity building programme on the promotion of appropriate
water lifting technologies in West Africa (recently completed
project)
In 2001 IFAD and IPTRID identified the need to document
the type and extent of water lifting technologies of smallholders
in West Africa and decided to collaborate on an effort
which would aim to develop a programme directed towards the
technology transfer and the identification of research uptake.
For this purpose, IFAD made a grant of US$100 000 to
IPTRID in order to design and implement the first step of the
programme.
Work proceeded on schedule in 2001 - 2002, finally resulting in the publication of all collected material.
Aa a follow up was made, the Report was presented in Niger, Burkina
Faso and Mali: these
activities are being undertaken with the remaining funds that IFAD has permitted the Programme to utilize.
