Research Uptake and Exchange of Technology in Irrigation and Drainage

Beneficiaries

Ultimate IPTRID's beneficiaries are farmers, farmers associations, service providers, and rural communities that currently experience serious economic difficulties due to water scarcity and poor agricultural water management practices. The increased prosperity of farmers and rural communities resulting from IPTRID Programme will also benefit the overall country economy. Women in rural areas will have a considerable advantage as for their active role in agriculture and water management.

IPTRID works with organizations devoted to monitoring and planning of water resources, at regional, national and river basin levels to strengthen them and to support the development of agricultural water management strategies, within the scope of integrated water resources planning and management.

At the grassroots level IPTRID’s focus on Capacity Development will create partnerships with those who are responsible for development and transfer of know-how and appropriate technologies to farmers and service providers. These organizations include research centres, training centres, extension services, information and data processing centres, planning units, small and medium enterprises and other supporting organizations called the ‘local partners’ of the IPTRID Programme.
