The Development Law Service publishes its second COVID-19 Policy Brief

27/05/2020

As part of FAO’s response to support countries in their efforts against COVID-19, and following its earlier COVID-19 policy brief Legal considerations in the context of responses to COVID-19 to mitigate the risk of food insecurity, the Development Law Service has published a second policy brief Legal mechanisms to contribute to safe and secured food supply chains in times of COVID-19. This brief provides more detail on how legislation can support safe and secured food supply chains as they face an unprecedented strain under the COVID 19 pandemic. It examines the impacts on food supply chains resulting from the regulatory actions brought forth by the pandemic, the role of contract law in securing food supply chains, as well as what food safety and quality legislation can do for food supply chains in times of pandemic.
