Interlibrary loans

Use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to request items not held in our collection from another library.

  • Journal articles and book chapters are frequently obtained from other libraries at no cost.
  •  Books can be obtained with a flat fee of $20 per item.

Fines:

If you receive an overdue or recall notice for an item, please return or renew the item.

If you are sure that the item has been returned, or you have lost library materials, please immediately e-mail fao-library-loans@fao.org.

The lending library will charge the FAO library for any lost book and therefore we will ask you to pay the fees by cash or using your budget code.

Minimum replacement/billing fees are:

  • $100.00 minimum replacement fee, up to the actual cost of replacement; some items cost significantly more
  • $25.00 billing fee

Also, when an item is returned damaged to the Interlibrary Loan department and the lending library has decided to charge us for these damages, this amount will be charged directly to you as well.

For more information, or to make an ILL request, send an e-mail to: fao-library-loans@fao.org.
