Lord John Boyd Orr

 

Lord John Boyd Orr (1880-1971) was the first Director General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).  He was also a passionate humanitarian, Nobel Peace Prize winner, and a pioneer in the field of nutrition studies.  Boyd Orr was one of the first scientists to identify the link between low income and nutritional deprivation.
