Sharing of the MAFAP results in the framework of the Economic and Social Development Seminar in FAO headquarters

On 6 February, MAFAP project as a part of the Economic and Social (ES) Development Department in FAO, stated its main results and progresses during the ES seminar "Towards a quantitative-based policy role in ES: experiences from the MAFAP project".

The presentation provided an overview of the project and illustrated the main dimensions of its implementation with a few country examples. These examples have shown how policy effort and market performance are measured, how they can be compared across countries and how policy coherence can be assessed. The partnership between MAFAP and Ghana was especially highlighted as MAFAP indicators are expected to become part of the regular policy monitoring and evaluation system in Ghana.

Such presentation plays a significant role as it participates in setting the policy direction, strategies and activities within FAO. Indeed, in addition to the results presentation, the objective was to determine to what extend and how MAFAP is contributing to the policy-related activities which will be carried out in the future by the ES Department.
