MAFAP in a nutshell

Since 2009, MAFAP successfully partnered with government institutions and research organizations in several developing countries, to create policy monitoring systems and carry out a consistent set of policy and public expenditure analyses across a wide range of agricultural value chains.

On its second phase (from 2014 to 2019) MAFAP will build on the partnerships and evidence created to support governments to reform food and agricultural policies that are currently constraining agricultural development, especially for smallholders.

MAFAP products

MAFAP develops innovative analysis for policymakers and other stakeholders in the food and agricultural sector. Our information products include country reports, commodity-specific technical notes, policy briefs and country profiles. These documents cover most of the key issues driving food and agricultural policy dialogue in our partner countries.

Where we work

Since 2009, MAFAP works in ten African countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, United Republic of Tanzania and Uganda.

In its second phase (2014-2019) MAFAP will consolidate and deepen its work in these countries. Furthermore, it will expand its activities in other developing countries: Bangladesh (pilot), Benin, Burundi, Rwanda, Senegal, South Sudan (pilot) and Zambia.
