After the success of the “FAO Open Day” last year, the second FAO OPEN DAY will take place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May 2018, as part of the “Open House Roma 2018” initiative. Seven hundred people attended last year’s Open Day and FAO received very positive feedback from the public.

Visitors will find out about FAO’s mandate and work, and FAO’s key role in supporting countries in their efforts to achieve Zero Hunger. This year’s event will be an opportunity to showcase FAO’s unique art collection, donated by Member Countries.

Leading architects, Vittorio Cafiero and Mario Ridolfi, designed the building in 1938 and construction started in that same year, but stopped during World War II. It took over a decade to complete the initial works. Two of the six buildings were added in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The buildings occupy more than 100,000 square meters over a total area of four hectares.

The FAO Open Day registration will open on 30 April at 14.00. Those interested can book their visit on www.openhouseroma.org. Advance booking is mandatory.

Guided tours will be provided on 12 and 13 May from 10:00 to 20:00 (last entrance is at 19.00 ), with tours in English at 15:00.
