UPDATE - The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2019 Launch

01/07/2019

The latest edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World will be launched on Monday 15 July 2019 during a special event on the margins of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York.

The special event will present the latest estimates for food insecurity, hunger and malnutrition at global and regional levels.

This year, for the first time, the estimates of a new indicator will also be presented: the prevalence of moderate and severe food insecurity based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES).

The new edition of the report also includes a special focus on economic slowdowns and downturns, which are among the main drivers behind the recent rise in world hunger.

The report is presented by FAO with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Permanent Representatives are invited to this special event.

When:          Monday 15 July 2019, 10:00am New York time
