The MFCAL Approach
The MFCAL Approach demonstrates the use and value of the concepts underpinning the "multifunctional character of agriculture and land" (hence MFCAL).
The approach refers to the full range of environmental, economic and social functions associated with agricultural activity. Like all forms of economic activity, agriculture and related land-use generates a multiplicity of goods and services.
The MFCAL approach seeks to deepen our understanding of the potential synergies and trade-offs associated with agricultural activity and focuses on their implications for environmental sustainability, food security and rural development.
