The preparatory process has been built on the twin principles of participation and dialogue. We have involved as broad a stakeholder base as possible, reflected in the Scoping process, the questionnaires and the electronic conference.

This process has not stopped.

  • The main technical documents and Background Papers have already been distributed and made available on the internet.
  • The Electronic Conference has been re-opened, bringing together over 1 300 participants from over 80 countries.
  • And during the Maastricht Conference period itself we will be organising a Virtual Maastricht Conference centred on the WebForum - providing a range of internet-based services to ensure maximum information exchange and participation - we will be publishing daily reports, carrying on the Electronic Conference, and hopefully broadcasting segments of the Conference live on the internet.

This broad participatory base is both very exciting and without doubt, will make a decisive contribution to the overall success of the process.

Finally, please remember that the Executive Bureau based at FAO is always willing to help you and answer your questions.
