Second International High-Level Conference on International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028

The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the United Nations and other partners, will hold the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” under the title “Catalyzing Water Action and Partnership at the Local, National, Regional and Global Levels” from 18 to 20 June 2020 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The Second Dushanbe Water Conference will focus on the ways that governments and other stakeholders can accelerate action and partnerships to contribute to the implementation of water-related goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, the Paris Agreement and the New Urban Agenda. Moreover, the conference will address the critical linkages between water and climate change in the context of featuring water resources as a key factor for climate adaptation and mitigation. It will also provide an opportunity for sharing progress and constraints in the implementation of the Water Action Decade, including the initiatives proposed at the First Dushanbe Water Conference.

One of the pre-conference forums will focus on the theme “Water in Mountainous Regions”.
