XI European Mountain Convention

From: 25.09.2018 to: 27.09.2018

Organized by Euromontana in collaboration with the Romanian Agency for Mountain Areas, the XI European Mountain Convention will be held on 25-27 September 2018, in Vatra Dornei, Romania. The convention will focus on the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of mountain areas and on how this strategic resource can be a key asset for developing sustainable and attractive mountain areas for the future. It will enhance the role of European mountain areas, their communities and their cultural heritage in addressing the challenges of the future, disclosing larger perspectives and creating new opportunities.

During the XI European Mountain Convention, mountain researchers, policy-makers, officers of development agencies, farmers, tourism actors and practitioners will:
• Receive an overview of strategies to better valorise cultural heritage in mountain areas, particularly in the context of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage;
• Explore responses actions of mountain actors to enhance cultural heritage in mountain areas and benefit from opportunities, and facilitate the exchange of ideas between mountain stakeholders to compare, improve and transfer good practices at regional and local levels; and
• Develop a cultural heritage strategy for Euromontana with a lobbying strategy and an action plan to implement in the coming years at European Union, national, regional and local levels.

Practical information
The XI European Mountain Convention will take place at the Centrul de Economie Montană (Centre of Mountain Economy) in Vatra Dornei, a spa resort located in the northern part of Călimani Mountain in Suceava County, Romania. The location of the event is serviced by different bus and train connections from the main international airports in the surrounding regions.
