2018 Asia-Pacific ICH NGO Conference

Hue, Vietnam
From: 06.11.2018 to: 08.11.2018

On behalf of the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP), non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are invited to participate in the 2018 Asia-Pacific ICH NGO Conference, under the theme “ICH NGOs towards Sustainable Development of Communities”, to be held from 6 to 8 November 2018 in Hue, Vietnam, in collaboration with the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre.

Since 2014, ICHCAP has been organizing the conference biennially. The conference focuses on the works of Asia-Pacific NGOs in the field of intangible cultural heritage. This year, the conference aims to understand the broadness and depth of NGOs' role in realizing sustainable development as well as the implementing the UNESCO 2003 Convention.

Many ICH NGOs conduct activities related to sustainable development, for example, quality education (Sustainable Development Goal 4) and sustainable cities and communities (Sustainable Development Goal 11) based on their experience and specialties. As NGOs are mediators bridging governments and communities, it is important that they share their activities and build a network to vitalize their ICH safeguarding activities for the sustainable development of humanity.

Interested individuals and/or representatives of NGOs should submit an application (download .docx or .pdf) with abstract (download .docx or .pdf) in English no later than 20 June 2018 via e-mail to [email protected].

Deadline for abstract and application submission: 20 June 2018
Notification on selected presenter: 4 July 2018
Submission of full paper: 20 August 2018
Submission of presentation materials: 8 September 2018
