Fourth World Landslide Forum

The fourth World Landslide Forum (WLF4), “Landslide research and risk reduction for advancing culture of living with natural hazards”, will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 29 May – 2 June 2017 under the honorary patronage of His Excellency Mr Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia.

Scientists, engineers, researchers and policy makers working in the area of landslide technology, landslide disaster investigation and landslide remediation will share their work with the global community at the WLF4. The reviewed contributions to the Forum will be published as the forum proceedings by Springer Nature publishing house in a set of five full-colour books, covering the five forum themes:
• Sendai Partnerships 2015-2025;
• Advances in landslide science;
• Advances in landslide technology;
• Diversity of landslide forms; and
• Landslides in different environments.

The WLF4 will feature several events, including a High Level Panel Discussion of governmental representatives, round table, photo contest and exhibition, student award, technical exhibition, and three post-forum technical study tours.

This event is jointly organized by the International Consortium on Landslides (Kyoto, Japan), the International Programme on Landslides (IPL), the University of Ljubljana and the Geological Survey of Slovenia. The WLF4 is a contribution to the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 which was adopted by United Nations(UN) Member States in March 2015 at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (3rd WCDRR) in Sendai City, Japan.
